Beyonce was far and away the top paid female musician in 2014 and the highest paid musician overall in terms of getting paid for actually releasing music. 2014 was Beyonce's most lucrative year to date thanks to her Mrs. Carter Show world tour, her surprise album and endorsement deals with Pepsi and H&M. Beyonce earned $3.65 per second in 2014.

BANDS & MUSICAL GROUPS

It's kind of hard to believe that older generation rock band The Eagles pulled in millions more than One Direction in 2014, earning over $3 a second all year long. Rock bands Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones were also among the highest paid musical acts in 2014 due in large part to their extensive world tours.

Rappers, Producers & Moguls

It's not shocking that rap superstars Jay Z and Drake were among the highest paid music stars of the year, but you might be surprised that UK DJ Calvin Harris came out of the blue and earned more than either of them in 2014. Harris earned over $2 a second in 2014 for producing hit songs for Rihanna and DJing nightly for the tune of six figures. Music mogul Diddy also topped the list thanks to the cash he earned from buying Diageo's Ciroc vodka brand.

COUNTRY MUSIC STARS

Toby Keith was the highest paid country musician in 2014, earning over $2 a second thanks in large part to his record label and restaurant chain. These top paid country music stars earned a combined total of over $180 million.

SINGERS & SOLO ACTS

Bruce Springsteen might not have gotten as much media attention and publicity as pop stars like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber in 2014, but in the end the Boss earned more than either of them did. These solo acts and adult contemporary artists made the list of the year's highest paid musicians mostly because of all of the money they made from touring and performing live throughout the year.
